The aim of IMABEC is to highlight the huge potentials of the marine and blue economy of the coastal areas of Nigeria amidst the prevailing challenges and to proffer lasting solutions to achieving a sustainable blue economy in the subject area for the overall development of maritime activities in Nigeria and the world at large through international collaborations and best practices.
Research, Development, and Innovation

Promoting innovation and technology transfer: We encourage the development and adoption of clean technologies, sustainable practices (e.g., low-impact aquaculture, marine renewable energy), and advanced monitoring systems (e.g., underwater drones, sensors) to minimize environmental harm.
Developing data platforms: We support the creation of platforms for ocean monitoring and analytics, providing critical insights for decision-making and resource management for both policymakers and businesses.
Support and Capacity Building
Providing financial incentives: Agencies offer grants, subsidies, and partnerships to mitigate financial risks and attract private investment in sustainable blue economy projects.
Business incubation and support: Some agencies act as incubators, providing resources, mentorship, and funding opportunities to entrepreneurs and small businesses in the blue economy sector.
Education and training: They develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and seminars for various stakeholders, including businesses, government agencies, NGOs, and the public, to raise awareness and build capacity in sustainable marine resource use.
Facilitating collaboration: Agencies foster partnerships between research institutions, industry associations, NGOs, and local communities to drive innovation and ensure practical, scalable solutions.
